Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum of 18 years of age.

• High school graduate.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
   

RFRD operates as a Paid On Call and Paid On Premise department, relying on the timely and dedicated response of members who selflessly serve the community when the alarm sounds. Under the direction of RFRD officers, firefighters in these roles are responsible for responding to calls, extinguishing fires, protecting life and property, and operating and maintaining fire equipment, apparatus, and quarters.

These positions require specialized training in the use of firefighting apparatus, tools, and equipment, as well as the ability to perform hazardous tasks under emergency conditions, which may involve strenuous exertion in smoky and confined spaces. Firefighters also respond to emergency medical incidents, assisting ambulance personnel in patient care and transfer.

Members receive competitive compensation, paid training, and uniforms. Additionally, state certification courses in firefighting and emergency medical services (EMS) are provided at no cost. Beyond emergency response, our dedicated firefighters and EMTs volunteer countless hours in the community, supporting local schools, church events, and other outreach programs.
