Hetzel, Eric

Eric first joined the fire department in 2009 after graduating Union Grove High School. He has lived in Raymond his entire life. Eric became interested in serving Raymond’s community as he pursued a college degree majoring in biotechnology, pre-physician assistant. .

Eric’s father Ron was the first licensed EMT in the community. He served the community as FF/EMT for more than 20 years before giving it up to spend more time with Eric and his two brothers, twin Scott, and younger brother Danny. Eric’s uncle, Mark, is currently on the fire department. Mark served as Assistant Chief and Chief of the fire department in his time serving the community. Eric’s grandfather Russ and great uncle Butch served years on the fire department in Raymond’s community. Eric is proud to continue the family commitment to excellent Fire and EMS service in the town.

Eric’s mother, Shari, works as a registered nurse in Racine. Shari was influential in changing Eric’s college degree from biotechnology to nursing in 2010. Eric attended nursing school at UW-Milwaukee where he graduated in the spring of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Eric started his medical career working as a certified nursing assistant at two nursing homes for four years. While in nursing school, Eric gained experience as a nurse intern at both Wheaton Franciscan – Franklin’s Emergency Department and Columbia St. Mary’s Emergency Department in Milwaukee. Also while in nursing school, Eric worked as an Emergency / Trauma Technician in the Level 1 Emergency Department and Trauma Center at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Upon graduating as a nurse in 2014, Eric transitioned to the role of RN where he currently is still employed. Eric is BLS, Advanced EMT, Firefighter, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certified. Eric is currently in school for Paramedic, where he takes the National Registry Exam this spring in 2017.

In his free time, Eric goes up north where he enjoys fishing, hunting, ATV riding, hiking and biking with his girlfriend Hilary. Eric continues to live In Raymond. The main reason Eric enjoys being on the fire department to provide a service to the community.
